China's
economy has been developing at a high speed
in recent years. And in line with accession
to the WTO, companies in the Mainland are
expanding and growing rapidly. Upon this
favorable opportunity, foreign companies
are flocking to China with a view to expanding
their business there. Against this general
background, demand for qualified people
by companies in the Mainland has been unprecedentedly
huge, especially those having international
trading experience and perspective. As an
international metropolis and a financial
and trading centre in Asia, Hong Kong has
a large number of professionals. According
to a specially commissioned survey conducted
by the Census and Statistics Department
of the HKSAR Government in 2005, some 237 500 Hong Kong residents had worked in the Mainland during the 12 months before enumeration, of
which nearly 80% hold administrative and
professional post.
Hong
Kong businessmen began their investments
in the Mainland as early as twenty years
ago, and most of these investments clustered
around the Guangdong and Fujian regions.
At the beginning of this century, in the Pearl River Delta region
alone, workers employed by Hong Kong businessmen
are in excess of 5 million in number, and
capital invested by Hong Kong businessmen
in Guangdong amounted to almost US$80 billion.
In
order to allow Hong Kong people who intend
to look for job opportunities in the Mainland
to have access to more comprehensive information,
we set out through this webpage those issues
to be noted by Hong Kong people who are
seeking jobs in the Mainland, and also job
vacancies in the Mainland provided by Hong
Kong employers. In addition, the webpage
also provides information on Hong Kong employment
agencies which provide placement services
for jobs in the Mainland, from which job-seekers
can obtain more information on job vacancies.
Thanks
to the assistance given by the Ministry
of Labour and Social Security, this webpage
is linked with the website of the Ministry
and its public job-searching website named
"China Labour Market". The linkage
enables the exchange of information on recruitment
and labour protection, whereby job-seekers
and employees can be better informed on
employment information on the Mainland,
thus promoting the integration of economy
between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Certainly,
before making any decision, job-seekers
should carefully consider their own position
whether they are suitable to work in the
Mainland, and should also discuss with their
family, colleagues or friends.
