Driving Licence
A person must possess
a "Motor Vehicle Driving Permit"
(a Driving Licence as in the case of Hong
Kong) in order to be qualified for driving
in the Mainland. The permit is issued
by vehicle management authorities which
operate under the public security authorities.
As different provinces or cities may adopt
different management measures on driving
permit, those who want to apply for a
driving permit should enquire about the
details with the relevant public security
office. Taking Guangdong Province as an
example, those who hold a driving licence
of Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan or an international
driving licence and have three years'
or more driving experience may be exempted
from taking the practical driving examination
on road, but still need to sit for the
written examination. Hong Kong people
may consider to apply for mainland driving
licences through some driving schools
in Hong Kong which provide relevant services.
